Question Clicking noise from starter, then starts

We own Auto V50 wagon with the Turbo. Starter clicks, makes a weird electronic sound, then starts...sometimes need to try 2 times to start.
Is starter shot, or another issue?
Thanks, been getting a lot of pointers that people give here.

sounds like the starter solenoid may be sticking or your battery may be weak. I think the potential issues here are limited to battery, cables/terminals or the starter. Does it crank at a normal speed or kind of sneaks up on full speed?

I'll check the battery with Volt meter tomorrow and let you know. It cranks right up with no hesitation when it starts.
Battery is 13 months old.
I saw a guy on you tube change the starter...detail work I cant do..I'll destroy the foam dashboard. Will probably bring to mechanic if it is the starter.

Hi,
I checked the battery with Volt Ohm Meter...came in at about 12.84V. Car started fine 3 times the past 24 hours.
Thanks

I'd start by cleaning the battery terminals/retighten, check that the alternator is producing enough volts (should be 14 ish across the battery terminals with the engine running) then keep an eye on the failed starts. Also if it fails to start, try wiggling the key during the next start try to see if its a possible ignition switch issue.

Ok, will do. I tested it without the car on, so that may be why the voltage was a little low. I read in a thread last year that there were some issues with these ignition switches, but cant seem to find it again.
Thanks.

I was able to catch the problem on video. Usually when this happens, the ignition stops,I go back to POS 1 then turn again and it starts. Thus time, it briefly stopped half way through ignition, then pushed through to start.
Ignition or Starter need to be replaced?
