Default Driving cross country in an '84 Volvo 240

Hi - I have a 1984 Volvo 240 DL. The cars been in my family since it was new. It's been used for local drives around the DC area but now I'm moving to LA and considering driving the car cross country. Am I nuts? Does anyone have experience driving a 30 year old Volvo on such a long journey? Any advice would be very helpful.

#1, cars do not know how far they are being driven. 30 Or 1,000 miles, they don't know the difference. My red block had over 400,000 miles on it and I drove it across country twice in one weekend.

Good tires, good coolant hoses, if serviced, I wouldn't worry at all. My current 850 is a '95 and has about 270,000 on it. I have driven it across country 7 times since May.
