Gangnam style Volvo 940 from South Korea!
Hi from South Korea! (the worst Korea according to our friends up north)
This is my 1994 940 with b230fb.
Back in 90s South Korea, 940 was like pure luxury car over here!
1994 Hyundai Sonata price was about 7000,000KRW,
1994 Volvo 940 was 36000,000KRW because of the high import tax!
(which is about 7000USD vs 36000USD)
That's about 15000USD vs 72000USD in today's money!
So this car was officially imported back in the day by Hanjin, (you'll know the name if you are into import & export business)
Total 1356 of 940s were imported over here in South Korea.
Sadly, because us Koreans tend to change our cars less than 7 years, so extremely small number of 700 900 series cars still stand here today. Maybe less than 30?
Even junkyards don't keep the car to sell parts. They just crush dem all!!
Second hand parts are extremely hard to find and even Volvo Dealerships don't have RWD Volvo parts.
Last time I went to the Volvo dealership and they said, "We threw away 940 diagnosis kit because it was broken. So we can do nothing for you except for regular oil changes."
So being redblock owner over here is very lonely.
My car has slightly different front end from US spec, which is same as AU & European models!
I'm the proud 7th owner of this 940. According to the papers,
the first owner bought the car at spring of 1994 and had it until 2004.
He got the car from Gangnam Volvo dealership (That Gangnam from Gangnam style!).
Every single 940s that were imported over here had 'Aries' wheels. Even the turbo models had 15 inch 'Aries' instead of Hydras. (Also no eggcrates for you!)
Maybe the guys at the board thought Hydras and eggcrate grills are "too sporty" for Korean businesspersons.
Here's some photo of my car
Got some 'lambda sond' badge from Germany.
Anyway nice to meet you all
