Default Good Afternoon! Newbie here

Hi fellow Volvo owners and enthusiasts. We bought our first volvo in January - an '87 760 turbo and are having a problem with the fourth gear - we're looking to find a diagram of the electric relay legend - which shows 6/8 little switches-our manuals don't show anything. We're not sure how this forum works, but if anyone can be of assistance, we would sure appreciate it. Thank you. P.S. We're also big into Corvairs and Flowmaster Mufflers.

Default RE: Good Afternoon! Newbie here

Greetings from Yokohama.

Is your 760 automatic or manual tranny? If manual, it may be the synchroniser that is worn out, in which case it needs either overhaul or a used/rebuilt tranny but double-check on the gear oil level. If automatic, double-check on the fluid level & condition. If the fluid is ok, you could try flushing the tranny as a cheap alternative (even the smallest FOD can render an automatic tranny useless). If it doesn't cure the problem, the clutch (automatic tranny has multiple internal clutches) may be worn out, in which case a used/rebuilt tranny may be better alternatives than bothering to repair it.

But don't quote me on this, as I'm an 850 driver and don't know much about 760. Be sure to post your question in the 760 section, people there would be able to better help you than I could.

Good luck,

JPN
