Default Hello from a "newbie"

I have a 1999 Volvo S80. A few days ago, the "transmission Service Required" message came up on the message board along with the "Check Engine" light coming on at the same time.

The fluid is as proper levels (under cold and hot engine conditions). There doesn't seem to be any slipping of the gears while driving (though the RPM's were a little high prior to the shifting, unlike normal).

Are there possibly certain sensors that need to be checked? Why would the check engine light illuminate concerning a transmission issue? (Uh, oh, how expensive will this be ?)

Please help . I have a road trip coming up in a week !

Default RE: Hello from a "newbie"

Greetings,

I hope your trip went well, as this reply is late.

One downside of Volvo is that the self-diagnostic is just little too sensitive and trigger warning lights for negligible reasons. Otherwise, Volvos are great cars.

I hope you've found a solution in the S80 forum.

Best wishes,

JPN
