Hello,

39 yo male from Ontario. Currently driving a 2006 Saab 93 - looking to switch over to Volvo in the near future so I came to the forum to ask question and learn from the wise ones here.

Yeah but no one has answered my question on the 2015 Volvo S80 or 2017-2018 Volvo S60 which one is more reliable. I don't think many people are here. I am a Saab driver looking to replace my ancient Saab and I'd like a breakdown on the differences of the 2015 S80 and 2017-2018 S60.

Best way to determine which model is more reliable is to consult a research source like Consumer Reports etc who publish research stats based on dealer reported issues. You can also google for maintenance bulletins to see where the dealers are alerted to known chronic issues. We do have a few dealer techs on the forum who can talk to what they see day in day out but most other people only have their own personal experience. What you can do with the forums is read through the model specific forum posts to see what common issues crop up. Generally speaking, reliability/faults will be common across platforms - so say you're looking at an S80 with a T6 and comparing to an S60 with a T5 or a T4. You can look for other models with the same engine to see what common concerns. Then there are body/chassis issues etc.

Last point - If top reliability is your primary buy decision factor over model size, styling and features then you should be looking at a Toyota etc. If you like the S80 more than the S60 (or vice versa) for their style and cachet points, that's the car to buy and focus on getting one with a known maintenance history, lower miles etc. Worst case is you invest in an extended warranty or go with a newer CPO model.
