Default Hello There

Hello everyone. I am seriously considering purchasing a 2002 S80 T6 w/48K miles for about $21,000. This will be my first Volvo. Just looking for some advice about what to double check on, and push the dealer to replace, as well as other stuff you pro's know about.
Thanks,
Shokwaves

Hi Mr Shokwaves,

Here in Australia you would be advised to have the car inspected by your own competent mechanic, or Volvo repair expert or as we have here - have your automobile association check it out. At any rate you want a report on the vehicle's condition and any repairs required. You can then ask the dealer to fix before delivery, or if buying privately - reduce the asking price if repairs are required. I'd steer clear of any car involved in a major accident.

Before asking for an inspection of any vehicle, you can do some of your own, eg check interior condition - look for wear and tear - check for evidence of regular servicing by accreditated agents - check for body damage - metallic paints often have marks that you can't polish out - maybe settle for a solid colour like white - do all the accessories work - does the car run smoothly at varying speeds? - any strange noises?

If your preliminary assessment reveals to your mind and not your heart that this is the car for you, then have a pre-purchase professional check and appraisal before signing anything.

Cheers ...... Nick

Yes. Always get a second opinion from a professional. Check CarFax, although even that cannot guarantee the honest truth. The 2002 is a great year for the T6 and 48K miles is not too high of a number, yet the price seems too be a bit much. See if you can negotiate.
