Default RE: Hi

hi there, i'm new to this forum so please bear with me.
been looking through all the threads for my cure and can't find one, so maybe you guys can help?
my car is an S40 1.8i SE.
basically, i can only open the drivers door and boot with the key. the alarm still resets and deactivates with the fob. the passengers and rear doors always remain firmly closed. they won't open by pulling up the **** on the door panel or by unlocking with button on the dash.
i think the deadlocks have locked on, hence my being unable to open these doors.
i've checked the fuses and they're ok and have had it suggested that i disconnect the battery for around half an hour?
don't wanna go down the main dealer route for the obvious financial reasons.
any advice or info on specilaists in my area would be much appreciated.

You can try unhooking the battery but try to get your radio code first.Once you disconnect the battery the radio will reset and need a code to work again. If you don't have a code you can stop by the local dealer with your regristration and they will give it to you for free.I will try to find out where the lock relay is and let you know.

If you can hear the relay try to find it and unplug it and see if you can unlock the doors after that. That is try unlocking then manually. If you can't then something might have happened to seize all of them up.

hi again,
found the clicking relay - it was in the keyless entry box.
disconnected this and tried to unlock manually - still no joy!
do you think this box could be faulty and something has happened to jam the doors?
is it within the realms of a competent mechanic or am i gonna be forced into the main dealers?
at the end of the day, i don't want the car butchering, as otherwise, its great.
any further advice much appreciated.

It might be that box the keyless entry system. The thing I don't understand it that you can't get any of the other doors open at all.
