Default Hi everyone

hey whats up everyone. Matt here. Just signed up to dig up some info about a friends 240DL. Hes had some work done to the car already (bilstein struts, pads, rotors, lowering springs) and he wants to swap the B230t motor into his car. He has an automatic already, which he said will handle the abuse. I tried to do a search on swapping the 740 motors into his car, but I kept getting errors about my search being too general? I thumbed through quite a few pages for details on the swap, but found nothing. Is there a link on here or a thread that would detail everything? Thanks.

Ive been in the turbocharged industry for quite sometime now (mitsu fan) and ive been treading into the 944 turbo area a bit. Im curious to see what kind of horsepower these motors can dish out.

The swap will kinda be a pain. But can be done. The main parts he will need is the engine with the entire engine harness and computer for the turbo engine. Most of it should just be able to bolt in.

I don't know exact HP rating but a buddy of mine built a B320FT in a 740 with a bigger turbo and nitrous. He had that thing running 12's in the 1/4.

I will imagine it would be easier for him to get a wrecked 740 to pull everything from? Motor swaps arent all that hard for me to do (i have 2 lifts at the shop and plenty of air tools). Transplanting the entire harness with the ECU and the motor is better than trying to rewire a 96 mitsubishi harness to match a 91 motor (stronger and better). That isnt for the light hearted.

I hear you. That would be the best to find a wrecked one and go from there.
