Default Hi I am new.

Hey everyone I'm Rob. Today I purchased my Fiance a 2001 S40. It needed a couple of things to pass state inspection. a Right Front lower ball joint and Rear coil springs. It has an oil leak on the pass side of the engine. Other than these things the car drives perfectly, A/c and Heat are great, sun roof works, and there are 4 brand new tires on it. There is a little rust starting on the bottom of the hood below the grill and a little right behind the front tires. I plan to take care of the rust issues Sunday. Underneath the care is actually pretty nice for the state we are in. I also intend on coating it underneath. Any advice to a guy that has never owned a Volvo in his life? Oh and the check engine light is throwing some exhaust codes.

The passenger side oil leaks could be caused by leaking front camseals.
These can result in oil spraying about under the cambelt cover and damaging the belt which could in turn snap unexpectedly, damaging the engine.
Leaking camseals are often the result of the PCV system being due for a service.
The positive crankcase pressure blows out the oil seals.

Advise you check behind the timing belt cover ASAP and also do a glove test over the oil fill opening to ascertain if any positive pressure issues exist.
