Default Hi - New Boston Area Member - Looking for VIN decoder

Hi!

Soon-to-be-owner of a 2011 XC90 3.2AWD in the Boston, MA area; Hoping to finalize paperwork on the vehicle by the end of this week.

Anyone have a good link for a VIN decoder? I found some online but most of them just list general car specs. I'm a gearhead and looking for more specific data because I want to do some brake work as soon as I pick it up. I noticed on the test drive they were soft/ not performing well so I'm planning to order some parts this week before I pick it up. FCP Euro and other sites list three rotor sizes for the front; 316mm, 328mm and 336mm.

Help is appreciated!

Here's the Volvo parts page, and there is a VIN break. Even if you input the VIN into the catalog, the Volvo page won't point to the ones in your car. So- you might want to measure them first. Or call your local dealer and ask them for price, part number and availability - then choose where to purchase the (hopefully) correct discs from.

Ok - thanks. Guess I’ll have to wait until it’s in my possession.

the rotor size is also stamped on the edge of the rotor - assuming its not corroded past view, plus you can also measure with the wheel off. As to dealers, check out Tascaparts.com They are down in RI so shipping is fast and have the cheapest prices for genuine Volvo parts that I've found. I've found them very helpful. They are my #2 source for parts (after FCP which is here in CT).

Thanks - didn’t know about that dealer. FCP has been my go-to for my other cars because they have a lifetime warranty on everything.(Unbelievable!)

I reached out to the FCP tech support yesterday and they said it’s likely a 328mm rotor. I’m still waiting until I have the car to verify it myself.

FWIW - this guy does a pretty good job of explaining how to tell which rotors / calipers you have;

-Basically just by looking at the type of retainer clip. (Image attached.) He’s a little unclear at the beginning when he says the rotor size is the same for all three; I think he meant to say the rotor hat is the same size.

Just following up to confirm the info in my previous post; The anti-rattle clip does indeed identify which caliper/ rotor setup is installed... I found I have the 328mm disc and 2-piston calipers. Ordered and delivered the appropriate parts from FCP this week, planning to install the fronts tomorrow. Rear calipers are taking a little longer to get here, plus I forgot to order the rear rotors, so those will hopefully be done next w/e.

I should probably post this stuff in the appropriate forum.
