Hi! New member here
My son bought a 1990 240DL a year and a half ago. It has 236k miles on it and he is the 3rd owner. A little about myself... I am 55 yrs old and a master machinist. I have always worked on my own cars, rebuilding/replacing engines/transmissions, basically anything that needed fixing. I have owned a wide variety of cars from MGs to Fords to IH but never a Volvo. I have always heard they were well built and must say I am impressed with what I have seen so far. I helped him replace the timing belt last summer and it was a wonderfully straight forward affair. The reason I joined today was I am going to help him replace his clutch and have been researching the tranny removal process. Thanks in advance for any help offered.
Dear Sir,
Welcome to the forum.
I have utmost respect for machinists or anyone work with their hands.

Volvos are simply built but are the safest vehicles available to public. The downsides are electrical & electronic systems & components that are not as durable as the rest of the car.
Happy New Year,
