I finally found her!
Hello everyone. I'm new in town and thought I should stop in and introduce myself.
Here's my Volvo story: Five years ago, I bought an S60 2.5T for my wife. It was our first European car and it was instant love! 106K miles later, we are still just as giddy as we were when we bought it and have vowed to have a Volvo from now on.
While she drove the 60, I was commuting in my Jeep. I decided to get another car to drive and reserve the Jeep for playing and utility.
I always had a heart for the Volvo bricks from the 80's, but they are hard to come by. I soon happened upon a 84 Mercedes 300SD and bought it. *yadda-yadda-yadda* I LOVED the car and had to sell it for financial reasons...
So...a year later, it was time for another diesel Benz, though I still longed for the illusive Swedish Brick, and I took a little road trip to look at another SD for sale. I took it for a test drive and, two blocks away, I happened to see a Volvo 240DL in a guy's back yard that was obviously sitting for some time. I pulled into the driveway...still in the Mercedes I was test-driving...for a better look. The owner came out and we talked. The car was not for sale, as it was the love of his ailing wife...
...*yadda-yadda-yadda*....
I drove home being the proud owner of a 1987 Volvo 240DL!
Interior: Good, Exterior: Great, All Mechanics: PERFECT
Cash definitely talks!! It only took $800 to change the 'for sale' status of the car.
Didn't mean to ramble, I'm just a little excited and wanted to share.
