Introduction and seeking Recommendation
Greetings, Volvo enthusiasts.
It's been many years since my last Volvo, an '82 wagon.
Now, with my '93 Acura's increasing decrepitude, I've decided on another Volvo, but What to do?
My budget is around $10k (Canadian), and I think I'd like a sedan this time.
Some cars are available in the area within budget (e.g., 1999 and 2000 S80 models).
I'd greatly appreciate some recommendations and guidance. Can 10k get me into a reasonably reliable car? Are there issues these "turn of the century" era cars have that should give me pause to reconsider what I'm aiming for?
Thanks in advance.
Brenton

Welcome to the forum.
I cannot recommend one specific model, but I see two possibilities:
1. Buy a reasonably-priced turbocharged Volvo (1995 or later); 850, S70, S40, S60, and spend some portion of the money to make it in top condition.
2. Spend the money on a newer model (S40, S60, etc...).
One thing I can guarantee: you would be happier with a turbocharged Volvo.
I'll let other members give you different suggestions.
Good luck,
JPN

JPN,
Thanks for the welcome, and for those suggestions. I actually would have leaned away from the turbos, worrying they added fault-prone, expense-prone complexity. But now that you mention it... my past experience with Volvos is that they are heavy, for better and worse -- sluggish. Turbo. I think I can live with a turbo. :-)
