Just got rid of my VW and looking to get a Volvo. I am looking at a 1999 Volvo V70 with 185K miles on it. Other than that, don't know much more yet, looking at it closer soon. Any advice on V70's or Volvo in general, frequent issues, things to look for

 

So did I, left a VW.Jetta For a 1998 Volvo S70 2.5T, nothing to compare. 1999 models have an electronic throttle control which could be problematic,you are better of with 1998. Take the car to a trusted Volvo mechanic for a complete check up before purchase.
