After doing a brake inspection I noticed I have one outer CV boot that is bad, so I will be fixing that ASAP, and my car is at 148k....so I better take care of the timing belt and water pump. I might pull the cover and see if anyone marked the inside as to when it was done...but I have been reading the manual and I'm ready to just change it if uncertain of last change.

I also got to fix the seat today....it got stuck in the laid back position.

This site had the answer I was looking for! Big time thanks on that one!
The wife needs to drive to work in the AM!

I think i did pretty good on finding this baby for $2100....I looked at a bunch of junkers for more$$$ all last week...one thing or another was wrong.
Leather, heated seats, sun roof, 6-disc changer.

Hi HS and welcome to the site.

Nice looking wagon. These cars can look good, last long and drive forever as long as you do the maintenance.

I could not help but notice that there is a small rear spoiler on the back of it. Those things are known to waste gas. You may want to remove it and ship it to me ASAP so I can properly dispose of it, or put it to some other use. LOL

Default Lol....Thanks for the welcome!

Right on rspi! I will get right on that wing for you!...lol

Yeah, I plan to do my own up keep on this baby....Just went down to ipd today and bought the CV Boot kit, for both sides. I plan on doing the timing belt real soon!
148k on the odometer....she runs real nice, the wife loves the heated seats.
I'm also into the old Datsun 510's....this is my 1st Volvo but I have to say I love the design....well I always drooled over these cars back when I had my other Datsuns in the 90's. Funny thing is I sold another wagon I had and bought this and had some $$$ to spare. The other wagon had a swapped in KA24e SOHC 150-160hp motor in it(From a Nissan 240sx), but was too small for our 3 kids....So the Volvo fits right in with our needs....plus it's SEXY, FAST and looks like I can do a lot of work on it myself!

I still have a pretty much stock 1970 510 wagon also with a L20B (2.0) they came with 1600's...has a Weber 32/36 downdraft. But I'm falling in love with these 850's. I just looked at our local Pick-n-Pull and they have 4 in the yard right now, so I will be going down this weekend to see what's left on them,,,

I should be around quite a bit on here....I love to read...LOL

If your pick-n-pull has a website, watch it weekly for the 850's to appear. People pick them pretty quick. I got first pick of a 850 R wagon and I tore into it pretty good. I have also used them to learn how to take things apart. LOL

Strange thing happened once, I was looking for a control arm from a '94, they have replaceable ball joints. When I found them, they have parts missing. When I went to another car to clean off my hands on some nice clean seats I found the missing parts. YES!!! I think someone had plans to return for them but once I found the ball joints they were all mine.

Default Good Find....

yes, you never know what you will find at the yards.

When grabbing some items for that motor swap I did.....I found a rare Nissan Valve cover that had the vent tube in a different location (better for the swap into the 510) sitting in a Volvo (Early WARNING SIGN!)...lol I re-stashed it a few rows over and when I came back the next week, it was still there...SCORE!

I love going just to look around, even if I don't buy...the $1 to get in is worth it!
