I have been trying to talk my wife into getting a Volvo for years. The reliability and safety reputation was very important. However, she has been stuck on BMWs for ten years. I have hated working on them, not that they are all that complicated, but you virtually have to disassemble the engine compartment to do anything. Well, we had our second child about six months ago and found that her 5 series was just too small. We have been treated like crap for years at the BMW dealership since we aren't ideal Bimmer owners (just regular old middle class family). Anyway, I suggested that she look at the Volvo station wagons. I guess the time was right...we needed a bigger car and the prices on used V70s are very good (a BIG plus right now).

I found a nice 1999 V70 on ebay, bid on it and lost...but then got a second chance offer and ended up getting the car for a very good price. It only has 140K miles on it and I flew from Georgia to Massachusettes this past Saturday to pick it up. I pretty much drove it constantly for a solid 19 hours (except gas and bathroom breaks) The car ran like a top and I only have a few problems to sort out (which I will be posting after this)

I don't think the issues are going to be too bad and once I'm done repairing or fixing them, we will have a VERY nice V70. I know absolutely NOTHING about Volvos and so hope to learn a lot here. Please bear with me while I learn how to search the archives. I'll try not to overpost questions.
