Default New here, long time big volvo fan

Hi guys,

I currently own a '06 S60 2.5T with 91K miles on it. Have had it since late 2009 with 30K miles. Absolutely love it.

Used to have a 1990 740 wagon. I bought it in 2006 with 170K miles and it ran great for 1 year & 60K miles until I hit a deer and totaled. Still sad that car is gone.

Currently looking for an early 90s wagon as a second car. Don't want to call it a beater, as I don't think a volvo could actually be a beater, but I want it to take some of the brunt of my harder mileage, as I want my current car to last a long, long time, and I know these cars can take it.

Currently looking at a '94 940 Wagon with 197K on it. Probably gonna buy it this afternoon.

Gonna attempt to replace the timing belt myself. Pretty sure I can do it, as long as I can find a tutorial, or simple set of directions. I found one for a '95 940, but I think these are slightly different engines.

Anyway, I'll do a search on this, don't want to start a new thread if one already exists, but if someone wanted to point me int he right direction would be much appreciated.

Looking forward to enjoying this board. I have always loved being a member of productive active forums for different vehicles.

:-)

-Matt

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum.

Well, did you get it? I doubt there are much differences in the timing belt from the '94 and '95. Heck, I used the 960 I6 timing belt job to do my 850 I5.

Hope to see you around.

Yeah I got it 2 days ago. Got it out for its first long drive to get a feel for its condition last night. Drives well, I think the turbo needs some work, and the transmission defenitely needs new Fluid, its a little rough between 1st and 2nd, and the ATF on the dipstick looks like motor oil.

I already ordered the timing belt/water pump kit from FCP Groton as well as the Haynes manual.

I will keep you all posted, but here is a picture of my new beauty.

Eventually, I'll get a pic of my 2006 S60 up here too. ( You can kinda see it in the back of this picture)

I am having some confusion regarding the fitment of 94 and 95. I found one website where they have 94 engine timing belt and note on the board shows that some belt from them would also be fit on the 95 engine. So I think that you should try it at least for one time.
