Hi! While I'm new to Volvoforums, I'm not new to cars by any means. I just got a 1998 S70 GLT to become my daily driver, as my current car, a 1997 VW Jetta, is approaching 200,000 miles and is becoming the second car/ GF's standard transmission training car. I actually do a lot of work on European cars, primarily Audi/ VW, Volvo, and Saab. I'm looking to open my own shop in the near future here in Columbus, OH. I've mostly driven VWs, but having worked on and driven numerous Volvos, when this car became available for cheap, I bought it, and since fixing it, I've decided it's lightyears better than the Jetta. (It was hit in the front, totalled by an insurance company, but not badly damaged. I replaced the right fender support from the strut tower forward (frame rail was fine) the right fender, the hood, header panel, radiator, condenser, and lights.) I joined the forum simply to have a community to discuss the car, and the minor mods I'll likely be doing to this car. Thanks for having what appears to be a great Volvo community!

Hello Carrots,
Welcome to the forum, I hope you find it helpful & enjoyable.
When you have technical answers/questions, be sure to post them in the vehicle-specific forums (S70, in your case). Also, when you need an answer to your question, please try the forum search function first, as you can often find answers to your questions. This doesn't mean you have to go through 50 pages, just do a bit of search so that we can keep the same question from pupping up everyday.
Good luck, and you may receive greetings from a gentleman by the name of Moderator JimKW, who lives in or near Columbus, OH. Jim has owned a number of Volvos and when it comes to value, buying tips, selling tips, etc, Jim is the best person in the entire forum.
Cheers,
JPN
