Hi Volvoforums!
Long time Honda lover raised in a Honda lovin' family here. My dad recently handed down his 2004 S40 to me, and I'll be here getting to know more about it as time goes on!
I drove the car when it was new for a bit and it seems every bit as tight after 134k miles. A few issues during its time, but nothing too major. - Especially for a modern day Volvo! As a Honda owner, I find it to be acceptable for the miles.
Turbo Whine issues at 84k - New Turbo - Volvo paid for it.
Antenna Motor Broke at 90k
O2 Sensor at 94k
Tires lasted 80k miles. replaced them with goodyear assurance.
Brakes lasted 120k miles. Quite amazing. - New pads, rotors turned.
That's about it I think.
It's proven to be quite a reliable car and fairly inexpensive to run. Volvo dealers haven't impressed me though, honestly.
It's replacement is a 2008 Honda Accord EXL V6 Sedan with Navi in White Diamond Pearl.
Anyways, onto the pics of what's in the stable. Thanks for being here!
Take note of this before and after shot.
Before
After
2003 Mercedes Benz C240
1996 Honda Accord
1986 Accord with 280k miles, still goin stong!
A 100k club badge is in order I know, so I'll get on it.
Also, can anyone tell me if my S40 is an LSE or not? - Some say yes some say no...

Welcome to the forum, a nice collection of nice machines your family's got.
Make sure to follow scheduled maintenance on your S40, and make triple-sure that the timing belt & its pulleys & tensioner have been replaced at every 70,000 miles or 5 years.
I am not sure whether your S40 is LSE or not, but other members would be able to tell you.
Best of luck to you, that Accord reminds me of good old days in my '88 LX-i.

Maint is like a religion in my family. My cars get serviced on time no questions asked. It's proven to be a winning formula, and surprisingly the Mercedes and the Volvo have proven to be much better than any of us thought they would be long-term quality wise. The Hondas are still on top though!

Hi jks2.
Just realized that the rotors were not turned. Volvo dealer replaced everything at all four corners and I just remembered what an ordeal that was. - they wanted $950 for doing this service.
My dad was quite furious, and had 4 other dealers in a 100mi radius give him prices much lesser than that. - they finally gave in and matched the highest one. ~urg~
About the benz, thanks. I guess the C240 would've kinda been a competitor to the S40 as they're both kinda small and 'luxurious'. Believe it or not the Volvo has more features than the C240, along with more comfy seats. If only the smooth and revy 1.9T were under the hood of the very tight feeling benz; then we'd have a party. - The C240 has a rather apatheic 2.7L V6 making a mere 160 or 170HP. I think that's sad because in 1986, Honda could get that our of a their 2.7L V6 in their first V6, the Acura Legend Sedan. Granted, it's smooth as butter, quiet, and pretty tourquey. But it's still a waste of two cylinders if you ask me.
Nevertheless, both the S40 and C240 are nice night little high end euro sedans, and I've never seen a paint job quite as good as the one on the C-Class.

Nope, just a friendly well wishing. From one 'family member' to another. Actually, someone pointed out we are not a family, we are a band of crazies. But seriously, 99% of the people on here are the best around. They will help with anything. Some of them seem to live on here, but they all dedicate their time when they can. GOOD LUCK!
