Hey, just thought I'd do the polite thing and introduce myself I drive a 1998 Volvo S40 2.0 CD (automatic). It's got a 179,500 miles on it but a full service and MOT history (and it's been serviced religiously), only 3 owners including myself.
I love it to bits and it's the most comfortable car I've ever had. My father in law has a brand new Audi A6 S-Line Avant and there isn't much in his car that can't be found in mine!
Recently It's decided that none of the fog lights want to work (front or rear) so I think the Fog ECU might have failed. That's the only fault it's had since I've owned it though.
I'm looking forwards to chatting with other members on the forums, and maybe even finding a solution to my fog light problem
Bucky.

Well I've got some news on the fogs issue. The MOT is due soon (which is our UK road worthiness test) and at least one working rear fog is needed as part of the pass criteria. To get it through I've wired the light directly to the battery via a fused, switched line (the switch is in the cabin by the main lighting switch). It all works and it's all using proper power cable with connecting blocks and a 15 amp rocker switch. That should get rid of that issue at least for now and give me more time to look for a real solution.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I tracked the fault to the Fog Lamp ECU behind the instrument panel (I found that power was getting to the box from the loom and the switch was also registering on the multimeter). I was able to activate the lights by bridging the plug with some cable so it was clear the box was at fault. New ECU on order, hopefully when it arrives it'll sort the problem and give me one less MOT failure *crosses fingers*
