hi im kc...just bought a 1985 volvo 245 DL station wagon the 1st volvo ive ever owned...its a beast but i really enjoy it and even though it has 260,000+ miles it is still running strong...i have many questions and i would appreciate any and all info i can get from folks that know volvos because i certainly do not...

thank you kindly...the car seems to be mechanically sound in all areas except the overdrive is stuck off...i posted about this in the 240 thread and got some ideas on how to fix it...appreciate anymore if you got em or any other advice...i say again i do not know volvos and i can see allready they are different...

 

The overdrive always seems to be an issue on the RWD Volvos. Is yours a manual or automatic? I have dealt with both first hand.

this car is an automatic transmission...it has a little button on the gear shifter that is supposed to turn the OD on and off but it is not working...i also noticed that the gear shifter when engaged down into the lower gears is very hard to shift back into drive allmost stuck...thanks for all this help folks i am really impressed with this forum...as i said earlier the car drives fine and shifts fine other than the OD not working...
