Greetings, New to this forum process and new to Volvo!{kinda that is}. Bought my first volvo in 1959 and have owned at least 1 ever since. Owned 6 at one time when I was a bit younger. Note: It is my opinion that real Volvos are rear wheel drive. I can dream can't I.

Hi Sarge, welcome to VolvoForums.

I have owned several myself and lean towards your belief about RWD Volvo's. However, working on this 850, I must admit that it has a Volvo soul as well. Safety (in accidents), quality (fit and finish), durability (can last a long time and still look good) and maintenance friendly (easy to work on).

I have to agree with you also to a point. Myself and this is just my opinion is I don't care for the way any FWD vehicle drives or steers.Volvo is a bit better than most but just something I don't care for.BTW, my 98V90 is one of the best cars I have ever owned and that includes several Mercedes and Lexus ls's. If they made that model new today I would buy one,it is that good.I now have a Mercedes CLK 550 and a Lexus LS 460 and I would just as well drive the Volvo unless I want to get there fast, then it's the Merc. It is a rocket. I will not buy a FWD anything and Volvo in Rockleigh knows it.I did a customer test for them with a 850 just before the were released.
