Hi, I just joined this forum today to hopefully be able to get some answers and share my experiences. Although I am not a technician by any means, I have worked on cars and trucks for over 30 years. I an currently working on a 2006 s40,t5 Volvo that belongs to my girlfriends brother. He was told by several different garages that when he overheated the engine, it cracked the head. So I decided to tear it down to figure out what happened. I'll let you know how I make out.

Hi and welcome to the site. Sounds like you will find many here with like feathers. There are some here with formal mechanical experience (ie worked at a auto repair garage for a living) and many that like to watch. In most cases several will help.

Do post your experience with certain model in the proper form so you can hopefully get support from those of us that have tinkered or worked on the specific model. If you don't get the help you need quick enough, please send someone like me a PM (private message) and I'll do my best to point you to the member that can best help you here.

You can also find good information/support at www.SwedeSpeed.com and www.MatthewsVolvoSite.com.

Hope things go well for you, the soft heads on these cars an warp pretty bad when overheated. Would you mind sharing with us what caused the overheat?
