New member.. new to me Volvo
Greetings everyone. I'm a new member of your awesome site. Living in the rust belt I was looking for a used car that was at a lower price point and free of rust, not an easy thing to do actually. Found this 2001 S80 with about 91,000 mile that was originally from Virginia. The car is intended to be for my daughter but will remain mine till I have confidence that will be a reliable unit. It has some issues that I'm focusing on and hope to succeed. With the help already provided within these pages I already have a better understanding of the car. Looking forward to learning more from the gathering of knowledge here.

Need Help!! P2188 code on 2003 volvo xc70 &..
Hello! My check engine light on my 2003 volvo xc70 read a P2188 code (System too rich at idle blank 1) just recently and I could really use any help or suggestions before going in and seeing a mechanic.. Also-I'm 100% positive that this is a major sign of an leak. Is it fatal and what is the first step I should do to fix my situation? Could really use the help!! Thanks in advance!

Welcome aboard! I too have my kids in Volvos. It was the smartest choice I have ever made in my life. My youngest just had a major crash and was able to walk away. I have never had a volvo as young as yours 91k is nothing to these cars when properly maintained. My sons 02 S60 that he just crashed was making its 300k at the time.
Some of the best points about these cars are the points that we don't see and or hopefully never see.
Also a great northern car because they don't rot away on you. I hate putting good work and quality parts into something that is rotting away on me.

Thanks everyone for the great welcome. Safety was my first consideration then shopping for a used car. If my daughter ends up with this car it will be her first and her most Important passenger will be my grandson. I have always liked the Volvo's, this is my first. It's a joy to drive, the ride and comfort is the best I have every owned. I haven't worked on cars much since my days with the 1970's hot rods.. that was years ago. Again, I'm glad to be part of this community and hope that possibly I too can add my experience in helping others in the understanding of these machines.
