Question new member - owner of a 96' 850R

hello everyone
i am a new owner of a 96' 850R with a manual swap in California. i just turned 19 and decided to buy this car because I always wanted one since high school. i have no idea how to work on it yet and i hope to learn more about just work my car. when i baught the car the car had some issue with the transmission, and it has seems that my poor manual skill has finally broken my car's transmission cable. however i still love this car more than everything more than anything else i had.

great choice of car. I'd assume the swap installed an M66 from another 850 so to find the shift cable you may need to search for a NA 850 (MTs on the turbo cars are very rare in the states). I doubt if your driving skills caused the cable to fail - probably an old issue dating back to the swap...

i kinda wished its a m66 swap, but its a m56, its a major pain to get the parts for m56 now since they are discontinued... i called 5 shops so far and i couldn't find a cable for the transmission.

sorry the M66 was a typo - you are correct, the 850s came with the M56... Given is a 20 yo car parts may require going used or a classic parts supplier.
