Hi, I just bought a 2004 XC90 with 179,000km at an auction today. A Volvo Mechanic recently opened shop just down the road from me, and that factored greatly into my impulse purchase, I am not mechanically inclined and not at all what I went there for!


It blew clouds of smoke on the drive home when asked to go over 80km (so I stayed under) or on hills, and I drove it straight to his garage and left it for a verdict (worth fixing or part it out?) Air Filter was soaked with oil by the time we limped in but car was not overheating. Turbo issue? Hoping it is fixable and reliable! Body is in excellent condition and everything else seems to be working well, so fingers crossed.

 

Probably a clogged PCV.

 

Just got the bad news; unless a good used engine is found I have a beautiful parts car. Lots of new parts on it, and body is pristine, so I won't lose money. But not the news I wanted to hear.
