Hi, my name is Logan. I'm 15 and from northern WI and have a 2001 V70 T5 w/ the infamous aw50-55SN with 138k. I don't have my license yet, and am trying to learn the most I can about just any of the cars in general. At the moment Im just cleaning up my car and fixing all of the little things that have happened to it over the years. Let me know what you guys think. Also, how do you delete threads? Thanks Logan

Update: Bought a '96 850 2.4 sedan that needs a new exhaust hanger and pcv service

there's a good thread on how to do the PCV service on the 850/V70s. To do it right you not only need to removing the intake manifold (see vids on youtube) to access all the hoses and oil trap, but you should clean out the ports going into the block. As part of the port cleaning you can consider dropping the oil pan and cleaning any gunk out from the bottom and replace the oil pump seals in the process.

There is a good 850 new owner's thread that talks about several areas to look at. The heater cores leak, and they are easy to get to. Loss of coolant and breaking timing belts seem to be the big danger to them. when I was buying them in bulk I did buy one that had the cam bearing lock up and that ruined it. Otherwise they are pretty bulletproof. They are getting hard to find in the junkyard when you need one.

yep, once you get to know the 850, its a good car to work on. there are a few special tools (my favorite being the serpentine tensioner tool or needing a 7mm hex for the front brakes) but for the most part there's a lot of good info online and on Youtube. Take a look at RobertDIY's vids as he covers quite a few of the 850/S70 common repair areas.
