Great forum. Just bought my first Volvo about a month ago, itsa2000 s80 t6. Love the car but after viewing some of these volvo forums they seem to have alot of problems, hope I didnt make a mistake.
Good luck with it. The early model S80's do have their share of problems. My daughter has a 99 S80 T6 that she loves, but has had in the shop quite a bit. They seem to fix quite a bit for free though because the car was known to have problems. And she occasionallybakes them Chocalate Chip Cookies when she picks up the car.
Greetings from Narita, Japan.
Welcome to the forum, I wish you find it helpful.
S80 may have problems, but I believe most of them can be repaired, with a minimal cost if you follow advice here. Also, I distantly remember that the timing belt (if so equipped) needs to be replaced sooner than the owner's manual indicate, I would replace it 10,000 miles earlier, or every 4 years just to be safe.
Be sure to have the recalls fixed at a dealer, free of charge:

Best of luck to you,
