New to the Volvo scene - 1987 Volvo 245
Hey guys, I just picked up a Volvo 245 in my hometown of La Crosse, WI. I first drove one of these a few years ago when I was looking for a car to drive while taking a trip to Boston Mass. I loved the car but the guy sold it under me while I was getting cash at the bank. I finally found this decent wagon, its a 5 speed with 253k on the odo. The two owners before me were Volvo fanatics, I have all the service records going back about 10-15 years. It does have some rust, which money permitting, will soon be taken care of and along with that, since im on spring break this week, im giving it a through tune up including:
Intake Manifold gasket
New Injectors
Spark Plugs and wires
Cap and rotor
etc, etc, etc...
The only thing that I know is wrong with the car right now is that it constantly smells of gas near the tank. It doesnt smell inside the car but I almost pass out from the fumes everytime I go in my garage. Im going to replace the fuel filter but any other ideas? The tank looks old but I dont see it leaking from anywhere
