RE: New Volvo Tech here!

Hello, I am also a new member with 99 V70.

I am having a problem. Hope you could help me out. My car has Check Engine Light on. I checked with a code scanner and it showed as P0135 and also B1S1 O2 sensor heater circuit problem. Sensor voltage showed constant at 0.5 volt, not changing.

I have changed that sensor only 1 1/2 years ago.I took out the sensor and checked the circuit. It showed 5 ohms and OK. But when I checked the heater voltage supply to sensor it showed only ~9.5V and found 2.5v between car ground and supply ground. The sensor output showed between 0.4 to 0.7 and changing when I tested without connecting to the socket.

I suspected the ECU has some problem as the O2 sensor supply is coming direct from ECU.

My question is what is my options? Can I buy an ECU, found in the internet for sales, and replace or :(:(:(only the dealer can do this kind of repair?

I will appreciate your advice....

If you are only showing 0.5 Volts the sensor isn't sweeping it should sweep from 0-12 Volts when running.

The Ecu CANNOT be used out of another car. Also if it is a new one the Dealer will have to program it. Which means you will have to tow it there to get programmed.

First off there is a ECM upgrade that may fix that! Have you had the dealer run the codes? Maybe different codes in our PC. If the ECM upgrade has already been done, Replace both sensors. Its hard to tell which sensor is actually bad cause they read off each other. From Volvo they are like 230 a Piece! I just finished up a 99 S70 the other day that i ended up having to replace both of them.

Its a pretty rare occurance that we have to replace the ECm to fix sumthing.

Agreed The only time we ever had to replace the ECM was because it was struck by lightning (The car that is)

is it bad to the use the turbo in a volvo, like often ? i own a s80 t6 2001, and am young to own it lol, and i use the turbo so i was just wondering.....

RE: New Volvo Tech here!

The turbo's are made to be used IMO.
I am like you I love POWER and I drive all my cars Very hard.

In my Mustang 5 speed I take 2nd gear to 90 MPH.

I always push to the Max at all times.

my 740 cuts off driving down the road let it set for a few min. and it will start again and run for a short dist. or may run for a day you never know how long it will run

The SRS light will come for two reasons...the fuse is bad or you got tapped on the front end. There's probably more reasons but those are the obvious ones. If you got tapped on the front end and your sensor is pushed in a little, it's very expensive to fix ($1600 on a Volvo 240). The fuse is less expensive. Good luck
