Just picked up a '99 V70XC a few weeks ago. Yep, read all about the issues but got a solid car - 96K miles, loaded, no dings or scratches, new brakes, good tires, newer struts/shocks, near perfect interior...$9k. Me happy. I look forward to working on this car, I do everything myself except paint. Hopefully I'll get tons of miles and a few new friends from the forum - I have been pretty active in the older watercooled VW world (Scirocco) for a few years. Glad to be here.
