Hello all,

Purchased my first Volvo last week. A 2018 XC60 Inscription. Pine Grey with Maroon/Carbon interior. All factory options except the quad tailpipes.
I have not seen the exact car yet as they had to bring it in. They had vehicles with the outside color and others with the inside colors but not both on the same vehicle Should be ready this Friday for me to pick up. Was given an XC90 with only 21 miles on it to drive until mine is ready.

Had a great experience with the dealer. I was not planning on trading yet and was thinking of ordering but he was able to find exactly what I wanted. I was looking for a smaller SUV than what I was driving. Had a 3 row Pathfinder that we were going to use on vacation. Normally too much space than the 3 of us need. However, this trip my wife's elderly parents and one of my daughters friends were going, so needed 6 seats plus room for luggage and a trailer hitch for a cargo carrier. The dealer is going to loan another XC90 with a hitch for us to use on vacation. Really liking the XC90 but cannot wait to be able to drive mine.

I have an 2019 XC60. We are looking at getting a retractable hitch installed by Volvo. Did you have any issues with the cargo carrier on the hitch? Was your hitch the retractable hitch? The Volvo website seems to be a bit vague as to whether or not a cargo carrier will work with the hitch receiver (it only recommends to tow a trailer or use the Volvo bike mount).

I have 2018 and it was on the vehicle when I took delivery. It is not the retractable hitch. I dont believe they offered them until 2020 or 2021 in the US. The good thing about mine is it has the 2 inch receiver where the retractable one i believe is 1 1/4 so it was easier to find a cargo hauler. The only issue I have with it is using a locking hitch pin. It is really close to the body and kind of hard getting the key in it. Not all locking pins worked because the lock being too big for the space.
Once it is attached it is fine. I have air suspension so it levels without blinding anyone at night. It drives the same as any other vehicle I have used a cargo trailer if not a little more solid. Our last trip we had 4 suitcases, beach chairs, umbrella ,a pop up canopy 10×10 and a few items we could fill out the bag. We were still under the tongue weight max though. The best thing about the Volvo is the license plate is high enough that it is still visible with the cargo bag filled. I have had an issue before with a TX highway patrol pulling us over because he could not see the plate. That was in a Chevrolet that had the plate lower on the hatch.
