Default Newbee!

Hello, Everyone.
I'm a new member! I belong to an MB forum.... bought a 1998 V70XC - very nice price. I smoked the tranny in my MB and will now proceed to repair it to sell. Anyway, I enjoyed the conversations, fyi help, and overall niceness of strangers when it comes to figuring out problems with my car. I'm sure I'll get that same feeling here with you Volvo peeps - I used to have a Volvo back in 1994 when I lived in Minneapolis - it was a 78 or 76 boxy sedan - don't remember the model. It had severe fuel injection problems, and the mechanic grew a liking to me - because I didn't know what the hell I was doing. This is of course before the internet and these types of websites. Love technology.
So now I have the V70XC - very nice! I was stalking an MB E320 4Matic for about 6 months on CL and it sold..without my permission!
Anyway I think I did better with this - certainly regarding price.
I am in immediate need for advice on where to get the best prices on parts, and some interior issues.

Do you only purchase OEM parts or 3rd party parts okay? Depending on how much money you can spend. Price is a big decision factor.

3rd party is fine with me - I have already ended up with other issues just after purchasing the car....
The speedometer is now intermittent - I'll have to put it in neutral and shut it off and then restart it - it will work for a little while and then stop working again. Not such a big deal except the cruise control won't work without the speedometer.
Next up - the check engine light comes on every once and a while.
The ABS indicator came on and the "Tracks Off" came on because it's directly related to the ABS -
Yeah, so, there it is - any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The ABS will cause the speedo to go out. You can get a rebuilt module from Matty Mo. He's our go to guy around here. So that issue can be fixed for under $100. Should be a link on my signature.
