Newbie from Florida
Owned a 1966 1800E from 1969-1978. Had to sell due to going overseas. Had been contemplating buying an old one, but decided against trying to live with a classic without all the things I've grown accustomed to. About four months ago, I visited a local Volvo dealer and saw the new V60. Am seriously considering buying it. YES, new. It is the only car that somewhat reminds me of the old 1800ES, but still has all the new stuff I want.
I have not seen anything on this site about the new cars, so this may mostly be for used car buyers. Could not find anything on V60 in search. In any case, if anyone has any experience, let me know. Hope to make my final decision in the next week. Will have to be ordered because no one has exactly what I want which is basically a Flamenco Red V60 T5 FWD Platinum with beige interior.
Hope to keep it longer than I did my 1800. Biggest concern is an extended warranty. Anyone had any experience with the 3rd Party extended warranties? I've seen a few good ratings but mostly bad ones and seems like a lot of possible headaches.
I also own presently a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country Limited (loaded) with a life-time warranty which is good until the repairs cost more than the value of the car. I have 104,000 on that already. I've found the manufacturer's warranty to be quite good. I'm told the VIP is more expensive than the other options often offered, but am not sure I want to risk the headaches of being one of those who runs into problems once the main warranty runs out, which will likely be within a few years at the miles I drive per year.
Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated.

You can get the the safe and secure package with wear which extends the factory warranty from 4 years 50,000 miles that covers the basics to a 5 years 60,000 miles which covers everything including brakes and the things the regular warranty doesn't cover. After that you can buy the VIP package.
