Mike, Volvos are considered super reliable for the most part. Dang, seems like everyone and their mos has a 240 wagon. I am trying to find one to lower and make a project, but seem to elude me in every scenario of looking at one! The V40's are reliable as heck and great on gas mileage! I personally like the crosscpuntry, but I will tell you to make sure to have it inspected especially the AWD system. Those if neglected can be BIG money to reapiur, otherwise a solid wagon and reliable and that sure is a very attractive price for that too!. Just about any Volvo out there is reliable as long as it has been cared for in service. Good Luck in your search! W E L C O M E!!!!

Thanks for the info. I like the cross country a little better because of the AWD plus lower miles. And it happens to be my favorite color lol

V40 is crap DO NOT buy it.

The 1999 Cross Country would be a better choice but that year is crappy. Your better off looking for a 1995-1997 850 model or 1998 V70 model.

Do it.... They are slow as heck, but fun as heck to drive. I had an 85 for about 22 months ago and LOVED that thing. I just sold it last week so I can find a 240 wagon. If you do get one, IMO get a 5 speed or if u get an old one, then 4 speed with the OD button. They are SUPER CHEAP and easy to work on... I will eventually get a wagon, but until then the search continues........Good Luck man, finding a car!
