Welcome to the forum. As far as I remember,there was onlyone hooligan on this forum and he was gone a long time ago.
As to Volvos, each model has its unique problems, so make sure to do a bit of research until you make a decision. I myself used to drive an 850 and know some things about those models, but am not privy to other models at all.
Maintaining a Volvo may be a bit more expensive than domestic cars (if you live in the U.S), but pretty much in the same ballpark as with any imports. It also depends on which component that needs to be serviced.
When you buy a Volvo, try to find one that has full maintenance record. Also, make sure to take it to your technician or to the nearest Volvo dealer/shops specialising in Swedish/European makesfor pre-purchase inspection.
