Sup fellas, I just bought a 1998 S70. Going to probably need some help once I dig into it. Just thought I would say hello.
Below is a list of problems with it currently but I dont expect to post because I havent even looked around. I will try to find the answers here before asking.

1998 S70 Base model
Automatic
- Small oil leak somewhere
- "Brake" light on dash always illuminated (ABS sensor?)
- Speedometer/trip works about every 5 starts (ABS Sensor?)
- strange noise from the steering column when turning left, hard to explain, sounds like rubber on rubber.
- click and rattle sound underneath dash around steering column, not all the time
- From a stop, seems like accerleration is sluggish till around 30 mph, could just need new wires,plugs and fuel system cleaned

parts that will be needed
- passenger mirror
- hood latch
- fog lights ( were removed for some reason )
- factory hub caps (eventually some nice rims )

Im sure I will find more later

 

oh yea, and a god awful sound around the serpentine belt, like a bearing in on one of the pullys is dirty.

 

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You need to survey that noise near the TIMING BELT. If it's a idler roller or tensioner roller and it tosses the timing belt, you'll be short 1 motor.

yea it is the AC compressor, I started another thread in the S70 section. The inside of the compressor exploded and the noise is all the shrapnel floating around I guess. I have no defrost, it wont power up and blows the fuse as soon as I try to turn it on. Im in the process of pricing kits because Im sure the drier has pieces in it too.
