Default Newbie from Maryland!

Hi, everybody!

Just purchased a 2004 Volvo V70 wagon and I'm tickled to death. I have just about all the service records from its second owner even though I bought the car from a dealer, so I know how well she's been cared for. Even met the service guy involved and though he's an hour away, that's where I'll continue to take it. It has 100K miles on it and it doesn't look a day over brand new.

Okay - enough happy talk. Of course, being the perfect car, reveling in Volvo heaven, and new to me, I felt super over-protective. That did me no good whatsoever. Tempting fate with my happy obsession, a brisk wind over the weekend brought down a limb and--you guessed it--the bulk end of it struck the car just above the rear taillight.

After getting over the shock, I had to just be resigned to accepting what happened. It left an indentation about a half inch deep and a few scratches, but that was it. So, lesson learned: either make sure you have a garage to protect the car from errant limbs or chill over acts of God or people.

To be honest, I'm trying not to let it bother me, but it does. I'm disappointed and I'm wondering if it would be worth having it banged out, but I may just leave it, touch it up with clear lacquer so it doesn't rust and call it good..but can you imagine?

The old beat-up Subaru never got a single limb near it!

Default Welcome!

Sorry to hear about the tree. Where are you in MD? I have only been here for about a month. I just bought an 01 S60. I live in North East (town not direction, LOL)

I did check with the insurance company and they told me there is no time limit for putting in a claim for acts of God (or trees). For that reason, we may just wait to have it taken care of, for now. jimmkitts, we're just over the bridge from Annapolis. Haven't been here that long ourselves.

Hello Sage 101014. Sorry about your tree limb issue. I just got a red V70 T5 and am being overprotective with it, so tomorrow I am going on a 300 mile trip to see how this baby performs. It already has 214,000 on it. My 240 DL wagon had 391,000 when I sold it, still running very well.

Man, I have about a year before I'm ready. I think I joined but have not received anything to my knowledge.
