Like the title says I am a noob (well at least to Volvos) with a 1990 780 Bertone. Im buying it from my dealership tomorrow for a good price. Needs some work, but after I get it tuned up I plan on playing around with the 4-cylinder before swapping in a SBC. If you guys could steer me to the best technical section to look in (740, 760, or other forums) and threads that you think I should look at.

740/240/940 section would have more traffic than the 760/260/960 for technical questions. Hopefully the 780 treats you well as a first Volvo, don't be afraid to post your progress here either. 780 cosmetic parts are hard to come by, hopefully the work it needs is mechanical.

 

I would also check out turbobricks.com and brickboard.com. They will be able to answer any questions that you can't get answered here.

 

Thanks for the replies! Found out that a 78 yr old man traded the car in on a newer Benz after owning it from new. It appears to have been well taken care of over its life (no rust anywhere to be seen) with some Volvo replacement parts. Its got some bruises but its nothing that doesnt add character. Doing the tune up tomorrow and then I'll see how well she runs.
