Default Thinking about buying a Volvo.

Hello everyone. I don't currently own a volvo but it's been brought to my attention that showing up in an old Ford Ranger or my beat up trail rig(Jeep Cherokee) to client meetings doesn't necessarily look the best. I've broken down and conceded to buying some sort of luxury sedan for the benefit of my clients eyes.

I'm considering an S60 and the station wagon version. These body styles;

and

What am I getting myself into? When I go to look at a jeep or a truck I can pick them to pieces from 20 feet away but I admittedly know nothing about turbos, IFS or any of the electronics in these. Infact I dislike them but its one of those, dress like your clients, drive like your clients type things unfortunately. I'm trying to figure out what common problems these vehicles have so i dont get caught with a lemon that im going to pour all kinds of money into.

Also, I'm not thrilled about the 2000-2001 S60s interior. Well the be specific I hate the dash, is there something I can do about the stereo to hook up my ipod or something? Not a big CD person.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'm not really up on the pitfalls with the post 2000 Volvo's. I have heard people complain about the trannys in the '00 and '01 V70's and that may be what you are looking at. I could not view the pictures.

You can post the the V70 section of the forum and see what those owners have to say. My favorite is the V90, it's the last of the true Volvo tanks.

Thanks man, looks like the wife prefers the Audis to the Volvo so I'll probably be going that route as long as I can fit in them. Happy wife happy life.
