Volvo Newbie in Charleston, SC
Greetings, All!
I'm a new Volvo owner, but I want to offer a belated thank you to the group! I lurked around this forum reading posts before happily purchasing my 2004 XC70 (ruby red). I am excited about joining a very smart group of automobile enthusiasts. It seems like Volvo ownership becomes a lifetime passion.
There is some great information here, and I look forward to contributing and learning more about enjoying/maintaining my car (I've already tweaked my HU-613 radio based on the advice posted here).
Cheers!
John

Thanks for the welcome!
JKS2 - As for tweaking the HU-613, I managed to access the hidden equalizer function to adjust the range sensitivity for each set of speakers (I have 2 small tweeters, two front door speakers, and two rear speakers). When I'd crank the volume, depending on the song and the amount of bass it contained, I'd get distortion on the front door speakers. It took me a few attempts, but I managed to prevent lower tones from playing through the front door speakers. The sound is much more balanced now, and I get richer, fuller playback without the distortion.
If you do a Google search for "HU-613," you should find a few sites with instructions on how to access the hidden features, including equalizer functions.

Hi John,
Greetings from Narita, Japan.
Welcome to the forum, I wish you find it helpful and enjoyable.
Be sure to follow scheduled maintenance to keep your XC70 going strong for a long time. Also, never neglect on timing belt replacement at every 70,000 miles or 5 years.Check all fluids regularly as well.
Good luck to you,
JPN
