Have just bought S40 1.8 GDI |(Aug 1999)
Engine sounds sweet apart from constant ticking sound. Sounds like a light weight diesel noise which can be heard from inside the cabin.
Is this normal? Apart from the nuisance value is this a problem?

 

Have the oil pressure checked to be safe and make sure it is within the specified range.
