Default Which Volvo's are turbo and RWD/AWD?

I would love for someone to list for me the newer (90+) volvos that are turbo and rwd/awd, I'm tired of my fwd and I would like to pick up a classy car that might have a good punch to it. Also Id like to know which volvos fwd/rwd/awd came with a 5 speed.
Thanks,

Paul.

Default RE: Which Volvo's are turbo and RWD/AWD?

Maybe a good question to ask is which volvo platform is the fastest? Im was looking at the 98 volvo s70 t5 at edmunds it quotes a 6.4 sec 0-60. are there any volvo's that are faster then that stock? is that a good car to do mods to? susp/motor? I'm sure I'll learn more the more I hang around,

Thanks in advance,
Paul

The 760 and 740 each had a Turbo model called the Intercooler, i.e. 760 GLE Turbo Intercooler. They changed to 940 and 960 and still made a Turbo in each. These were the rear wheel drive vechicles. In 1993 they came out with the 850 which was the first of the FWD cars, which also came in a Turbo model. I had a 1989 760 Turbo Intercooler that would not even come close to being as fast as my 94 850 Turbo. In Motor Trend in 1994 they did an article that listed any car for under $40K that will do 140 MPH. The Volvo 850 was the only FWD car on the list and they used a Wagon to boot. It came in at 152 MPH stock. I know for a fact that it shifts in OD when floored at 127 MPH. They also came out with a version of the 850 called the T5R that puts out about 240 HP verses the 220+ that the regular turbo has.

In 1998 the did away with the 850 and called the sedan the S70 and the wagon the V70. Same basic cars as the 850. Not sure of the engine size at this point. This is also when the started making some AWD models, which I personally would stay away from. In 1999, the year Ford bought Vovlo, they started making a larger car known as the S80. This is another one I would stay away from. My daughter has one that she has had quite a bit of trouble with. It's a 1999 S80 T6 that is very fast and quite nice, but has trouble. I think they also made a S90 that was RWD in 1999, but I'm not sure of this.

Now in these later models some have Turbos that are low pressure and some have the older high pressure Turbo like I have on my 850. My V70 has the low pressure Turbo. I thing the high pressure Turbo's have the T5 associated with them, but I am not certain of this either. Of the newer cars, I like the V70 and the S60 which both come in Turbos. My daughter wants to get rid of her S80 and get a S60 T5 in red.

If you want newer with RWD I think you are out of luck with Volvo's. I would probably look at BMW's if I really wanted the RWD. That's what my son and my daughter's boyfriend drives. Hope this helps.

Rear wheel drive Volvo's were made until 1994.1995-1998 they had a rear wheel drive inline 6

The front wheel drive fastest cars are the 850R,S70R,V70RS60R.
