S60 AWD Turbo removal
It can be removed without stripping off the diff! Wow- what a mission. The front diff presents a huge challenge with space. A few special tools: flexible 12 and 13 ratchets were critically important. I also used a 1/4" drive flexible joint to attach the T27 torx bit to remove the oil return fitting. The most difficult was the left hand lower manifold nut. There are 4x 13mm nuts holding it together.
Start with removing the pipes (intercooler, inlet, water and oil). Remove the aluminium turbo covers. The nuts with springs are really tight. Remove the 3x 13mm exhaust nuts. Remove 4x 13mm nuts from the exhaust manifold. Remove the actuator. The turbo is now ready to remove from above, taking the exhaust side first.
Process took an entire day with help from an assistant to help from either above or below to guide the tools through the minute gaps.
Really difficult job!!!
