So, theoretically, how hard would it be to turbo a 240?
OK, 1985 240 wagon DL.
Its a buddy's of mine, and I remember seeing somewhere that they made a turbo'd version of the 240. I have no experience with Volvo's, but own a Mazda 323 GTX turbo what I work on alot, so Im not new to turbos.
Theoretically, what would I need to turbo his car? Assuming some did come factory turbo'd.
Im thinkin turbo/mani, turbo boost controls (air valves), ecu, what else?
Thanks in advance guys!

The 240 Turbo I believe ended production in 1983.
The turbo cars were also CI injection and not EFI cars.
The best way to do it would be to find a wrecked 740 turbo and swap everything from there.

so the maniforld and everything bolts right on up?
how bout ecu's? I saw in his haynes manual some sort of valved pressure control system?
sorry but I know NOTHING about Volvo's, so thanks for being patient!

Like I said I would buy a wrecked 740 so you have everything you can swap over Wiring harness with computer. You would also be better off just using the 740 motor.
That would also require you to convert the car over to EFI.
It would be a long process to get it alldone.
If it was a turbo car alreadythen you could have added some stuff to make it faster from the 740 setup.
There is no real easy way to do it.

when I said I know nothing about vovlo's meant Ive never worked on them specifically before. Ive done alot of work on my 323 gtx, so Im not new to turbos or swapping stuff over. Its an older car so I wasnt sure about some stuff...
thanks for the help, though tech.

If you do end up doing something or getting something figured out come back and let us know.
I would like to know if someone made something work.

Yeah man I definitly will. Might be sometime in the spring before we even attempt it, but I will probably be around here trying to learn stuff and get answers, etc.
