Anyone into photography or just taking pictures as a hobby? My wife and I (complete novices) love to take pictures and a friend of mine (read professional photographer) is going to give us some pointers, etc. He was telling me about Flickr so I signed up today. Anyone else on Flickr? or just like to snap pics in general?

I love to take photo's. I use a free hosting site called Picturetrail.

I use a Canon Digital Rebel XT. And have three lenses. The one that came with the camera which is a Canon EF-S 18-55mm , Tokina 77mm SD 12-24 F4 (IF) DX AT-X Pro Wide Angle lens and also a Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm lens.

Well, currently, I have a really crappy 3.0MP Olympus digital. I've got an old Pentax 35mm that I love to use (can't remember model off the top of my head) and my wife has an old Canon. They are still really great cameras, but we currently don't have any other lenses than the basic 35mm. Once we learn how to more properly use our film cameras, we'll expand into more lenses, better digital camera, etc.

Currently, here's my favorite photo, taken with my crappy 2001 Olympus C700 Digital camera. The only good thing about it, is you can tweak the settings pretty easy, but I really didn't know what I was doing, and just got lucky. haha.

Great pics! I love the mist in the first one. That flood pic is amazing. I don't live close enough to any major rivers to see that kind of water. That's crazy. Thanks for sharing!

yea, it can get pretty wild when we get alot of rain. Camp sites have to get evacuated etc. etc.

The MAF Sensor went bad, but the new one is ordered and on the way!

 

I have a Nikon D50. It came with the 18mm - 55mm and the 55mm - 200mm lenses. I also purchased a Nikon 70mm - 300mm lens that I use for soccer pictures mostly. I also got a 400mm Sigma lens. I use it some for soccer but mostly for nature pictures. Took some pictures of some turkey vultures when I went fishing a few weeks ago with the 400mm. My best picture probably was a sunset picture at Kentucky Lake fathers day weekend of 2006. I'm going to sign up for that hosting site that S70 talked about. If I get it set up I'll try to post some of my pics.

jks2, to add a picture simply just click the button that kind of looks like a mountain. it is located at the end of the bar that lets you choose bold, italics, and underline. i think you can even click the box that says "embed picture in post" but i used the mountain button. Hope this helps, im not the best at explaining things but ya.

Taking pictures is a nice a hobby. You freeze moments and preserve the beauty of the event. I love photography too. I just don't have the luxury of time.
