Default Convert AWD to FWD??

Anyone ever considered dropping the drive shaft connecting the front with the rear to increase MPG's? Just a thought, may be crazy

It would increase mileage. I know old 4x4 guys would sometimes do that. BUT I would never do it to a newer vehicle. For the most part, cars are AWD not true 4x4, so the second driveshaft isn't engaged in the transfer case 90% of the time anyway.
