CRAP!!!
Just need to vent/Rant. I found out last Friday at quitting time that "due to budget cuts and a slowing economy, my services are not longer required or affordable at this time" In simple terms, I am officially out of ajob. I worked for this place without a hicth for several years, and the best they could do is drop a bombshell like this with no warning.
Oh well, looks like it is unemployment, peanut butter sandwiches and mac and cheese until; something better comes along.

Hang in there Psaboic, I feel your pain as well. I am going on week number 51 of being out of work myself (laid off last October).
In my caseI was in middle management and in Detroit which are the two reasons for not finding anything yet, though I have been looking. Thank God my wife works and that pays the bills!!
I just applied for a Dept of Labor TAA (Trade Act) retraining program and it appears I will be going back to school in a Master's degree program. If you or anyone else is interested in what this is and were in a situation where multiple people were (or will be) laid off, you too may be eligible.PM me for the details.

Right now I am staying home with the youngest at the moment saving $100.00 per week for daycare.
I was hoping to get called back but will wait only a little while and see what happens. If I don't get the call back then I might check with both Dealers in my area and take it from there.

It seems to me that the right people have been laid off and the wrong people have been kept. Something is very wrong indeed.
I graduatedfrom two4-year colleges, and a high-school grad makes a lot more $(ï¿¥) than I do[8D]. And I work for a U.S airliner and most people here cannot even speak/write English (or was it EngRish?) straight. Andwhy in the world are they treated better is beyond my knowledge. They are sent tothe States for job-training while I clean their mess. At 35, I only make just enough to feed myself
!
Gaaa!!!
Working with J@p@nese people keeps me depressed, it is so bad that I rely on medication.

That must have been a Japanese firm.
I think many of us are either in the same boat or similar.

Tech,
I am very sorry to hear that you were laid off. I live in a country that goes in and out of crisis every 5 years aprox. However, car mechanics never tun out of jobs because less and less people are willing/able to buy new cars, so the old ones are repaired.
I wouldn´t move to another branch if I were you. You seem to be very proficient at fixing Volvos, and when the sh*t hits the fan, the raperships will have lots of older cars to fix.
Outside of the US we have all considered that it was just a matter of time that the U.S. economy colapsed. Your negative trade balance, aggressive job outsourcing, and excessive government spending is not sustainable. You can´t print more bonds forever and ever.

I suppose the volvoforums.com owners are paying you something for your contribution to this site. You are the person that keeps it alive. If you leave, this forum dies. Maybe the can share part of the ad reneue with you now that you are in need of money.
