Alexander...................I want to give you a bit of free advice. I bill out at over $200.00 per hour and so consider that you are receiving a bargain. Your posting is an admission of speed. I appreciate that your name and address is not posted but you are not immune from discovery. I can only imagine that you are a youth and feel that you are impervious to discovery. That is not the fact. Please consider your postings in the future................I am sure your parents would be concerned.

i have seen similar posts to this on many forums, and I have even seen police post their top speeds.

i have gotten my american nonner up to 143, and the bimmer up to 125ish. when going 143, i was attempting...and i emphasize attempting, to keep up with a viper, who was kind enough to pull over and wait for me ahead, and i stopped to speak with him. he had a TON of work done to it, and had a full custom digital dash...with recall. he clicked off when a "2" popped up as the first number...[8D]

I can tell you this, my 94 850 Turbo, with the pedal to the metal shifted into overdrive at 127 mph. Then the speedometer shot up over 130 and I shut down real quick. Cop ticketed me for 85 and I said "thank you" with no sarcasm whatsoever. This was in the middle of Kansas on a perfectly straight and level road with no other cars around me. The cop was actually going the other way and turned around and got me from behind. I have little doubt that it would have hit 150 if I had stayed on it.

I drove my 69 Chevelle about that fast one time and it felt like it was going to fly off the road. The Volvo felt like it was being sucked down onto the road. The Chevelle scared the crap out of me, while the only thing that scared me on the Volvo was what I saw on the speedometer. I just had to see where it would finally shift into high gear. I mean it shifted into passing gear going 100 mph. I have a feeling Justin buried the speedometer at 140, but he never told me he did. And I wonder why the motor died at 206,000 miles? Remember this though: SPEED KILLS.

I have hit 120, and it was the sweetest 120 ever. Some chump was cruisin around in his Civic with magnetic flame stickers and exhaust tip. He decides to "fly" around me to get on an entry ramp to a highway. I was laughin my *** off because he gave me some look(probly because i still have taken the lei off my rearview mirror that was there when my mom had the car) and then he kinda slowed down. At that point the road opened up to 3 lanes and i dug the pedal into the bottom of the car and blew by him into middle lane. at that point i let him "catch up" (i was at 75) then let him have it and flew off until 120. just another example why you dont mess with a volvo

I have had my 2001 S40 up to 210. Did I get u. I am Canadian and we are in kph here. For you imperial guys that is about 130 mph. I think if I improved the suspension I could go even faster. I could go a bit faster than that with the car the way it is now but it would not be a wise thing to do. My advice to anyone who likes to go fast is make sure that your car is up to it. stock tires, suspension, computer chip ect. should be upgraded at least. Suspension and brakes would also be a priority for speeds greater that 140 mph. But then again what do i know. just like to go fast.

Hello, I am new to this forum. I own a 1999 Volvo S80 T6 and I only got it up to 100 so far. However, the specs say that the car is electronically limited at 155. What a shame.

This is my first posting on this website. Jim - Its your fault. Speed doesn't kill. If that were the case there wouldn't be any racecar drivers or airplane pilots.
Speed differential kills.
At Daytona speedway, for about $100, you can take a ride in an honest "cup" car, with a proffesional driver at the wheel. Top speed is about 175. MAN ITS COOL!
I've been about 140 on a bike, and about 140 in my modified Camaro.

I test drove a 93 RX7 one time. I hit 100 mph on the on ramp in third gear before I even knew I was going fast. I was just taking it through the gears. I think that was the fastest car I ever drove. My wife was with me and to this day she refers to that car as the luge. You know the sled in the Olympics where you lay down and go real fast in a track. I decided not to buy the car because I was certain that I would kill myself going that fast in something that small and low. What made me want one was when one went by me like I was standing still in my 89 760 Turbo while I was trying to pull away from him for tailgating me. I sold the 760 and bought my first 850 Turbo right after that.

Ha Ha. I agree the 3rd gen RX7 is probaly the most ridiculous car I have ever drove. Scary fast and they break loose real easy. I am just like you, I wanted one so bad until I drove it and decided I would rather live than buy that car and kill myself. He since wrecked it into a offramp only doin like 50. Forgot, I got to 137 in my 92 max a couple times, but that was the limit on the gov.

Since we are just taking about how fast you have driven a car, the fastest I have ever driven a car was my 1985 Nissan 200sx. I had it up to 220 kph (136 mph) i think. Car felt like it was going to lift off the road as I had some much air under it.

185mph at the Ford Proving Grounds. SVT owners association event, they even had the mechanics and engineers there to remove the rev-limiter(fuel cutoff) before you took your car out. I was still driving a (big hole in the pocket) 96 Cobra at the time. They had radars all around the track. Fun day.

Young and dumb....
I don't think of 100mph as being very fast, because for so long I've had vehicles (read sportbikes) capable of so much more.
But this thread got me to thinking. 100 can be very fast - depends on what you're driving. The first time I ever drove 100, (I was under the age of 18) was in a 74 Ford Maverick 6cyl, with drum brakes in the FRONT and rear. When you applied the brakes, the steering wheel pulled to one side. I had the windows down, and dust started flying around the car and into my unprotected eyes, just as the speedo hit 100 - I almost forgot to mention, I was in a 45mph speed zone.
100mph that day, was entirely too fast.
